A Stress-Free Portrait Process

The key to a successful portrait painting lies in the one-on-one relationship between a suitably matched artist and subject. One of our professional sales associates will help you choose an artist from our roster of more than 100 of today’s foremost portrait painters from all over the world to suit your preferences and find the perfect match for your commissioned piece.

Then, your associate will work with you and the artist to carry out the logistics and details of the commissioning process. Since 1942, we've been creating successful portrait commission experiences. We've learned the art of coordination to create a stress-free process for both our clients and our artists.

From the first sitting to the portrait’s unveiling and installation, you'll enjoy the pleasant, often once-in-a-lifetime experience of commissioning a portrait. Depending on the portrait artist you select, the medium, and how much detail you've envisioned, the commissioned portrait should take between six and twelve months. We promise it's worth the wait.

Here are a few of the most common portrait requests we receive from our clients:

    You can commission a family portrait either by scheduling a sitting to capture just the right pose and expression or by requesting an artwork created from existing high-quality photographs (subject to the artist’s approval).
