In late February, Gen. Michael Hayden’s portrait, a Portraits, Inc. commission by artist Steven Polson, was added to the CIA Director’s Gallery during a special ceremony to honor his service as the CIA’s 18th Director.
In the Central Intelligence Agency’s (CIA) 70-year history, only 21 men have served as director. Having portraits of these men commissioned that are added to the gallery is one way of honoring them.
Polson, the artist, was thanked for the many hours of work he put into the painting at the unveiling ceremony. The general consensus was that his hard work definitely paid off since not only the likeness of Gen. Hayden was captured, but also his essence.
In order to do this, Polson completed extensive research, including interviews with colleagues and family and reading biographies and articles about him.
Putting in these extra hours of work and preparation is just one of the things that sets our Portraits, Inc. artists apart from other portrait artists. The end result in the case of Gen. Hayden reflects the warmth, honesty and integrity of the subject.
