Beth Beale brings nearly 30 years of experience in portraiture, the commission process, and the arts. A Richmond native, Beth first discovered her passion for art after the birth of her two daughters, when she began shopping for portraits and developed a deeper interest in the field. She began her artistic career as a ceramic artist before transitioning to private portrait representation in 1993, during which time she also co-authored The Complete Portrait Guide. Beth joined Portraits, Inc. in 1996 as a sales associate. Since then, she has guided countless Virginia families, as well as government and corporate committees, in selecting the right portrait artist. With a discerning eye and strong knowledge of visual elements, she excels at helping clients articulate their vision and match it with the perfect artist.

Beth also has a long record of community involvement. She and her daughters all attended an all-girls private school in Richmond, where she has served on the school’s Board for more than 20 years.

She understands the many factors involved in commissioning a portrait—including artist style, subject age, pose, background, and budget. “That’s my job,” she says, “helping a client understand what style and what artist will best satisfy the wishes of everyone involved.”

Today, she treasures several commissioned portraits in her own home, a testament to her lifelong dedication to the art of portraiture.
