Jennifer R. Welty

Born in the fast-paced, high-tech heart of Silicon Valley in 1958, Jennifer R. Welty grew up wanting to capture a sense of timelessness in her work. Beauty, family, integrity, character, the reward of hard work, and discipline are values she tries to honor through her paintings. Jennifer graduated Valedictorian with a degree in interior design from International Fine Arts College in Miami, Florida, but she is largely self-taught in the field of portraiture. With no formal instruction in painting, she taught herself to paint by copying great masterworks, practicing on friends and family, and drawing endlessly.

With no formal instruction in painting, she taught herself to paint by copying great masterworks, practicing on friends and family, and drawing endlessly.

At 14, Jennifer illustrated four children’s books used in school reading curriculums. At the age of 23, she began to be represented by Gallery Americana in Carmel, California, a relationship that would last nearly 10 years. She illustrated over 21 collector plates for the Bradford Exchange before plunging fulltime into portraiture, her first love. While raising two young daughters and caring for her family, Jennifer often arose in the middle of the night to paint in the quiet hours of dawn.

Recently, she has studied for short periods with Daniel E. Greene, Casey Baugh, America’s foremost impressionist painter C.W. Mundy, and Nancy Guzik. Involvement in the Portrait Society of America helped raise the bar extremely high in the field of portraiture, and it was there that Jennifer received numerous awards for her work as well as an invitation to join Portraits, Incorporated.

Jennifer’s clients include LPGA Hall of Famer Julie Inkster; former MSNBC Anchorwoman and managing editor for the Wall Street Journal Maria Bartiromo; former CEO of Advanced MicroDevices Anthony Holbrook; the former CFO of Adobe Systems; the founders of Intuit; the family of Manchester United goalie Tim Howard; Claire Tate, Foundation for the Carolinas; Roy Nichols, former CEO of Nichols Research and Huntsville (Alabama) Business Hall of Fame recipient; and countless other wonderful children and adults.
